Sound

Entertainment

The touches you deserve and those you can do without:

  • False: You get what you pay for.  We have seen DJ service charge up to $1500.00 for there Platinum Packages.  Just a fancy term in which you are fooled into thinking it must be the best.  The tag line is usually no extra charge for additional overtime, all lighting and sound packages etc. etc.
  • Sample tag line- " Just like any other business, you get what you pay for.   Because the entertainment is such a crucial part of the receptions atmosphere, this is not an area where you want to cut the budget.   Remember, do not hire the cheapest DJ available, Hire the best DJ that you can afford!"
  • Sample tag line-  "Don't Let The Price Make The Cut Cheap" DJs are never good and good disc jockeys are never cheap.  One of the most common mistakes that leave to event nightmares is hiring the cheapest guy in town.  Don't go with cut rates because they can destroy your event.

SE charges you $575.00 for 5 hours, and an additional $50.00 per hour after the 5 hours at your request for our "Platinum Package".  No matter the package you request, you receive all lighting effects, professional sound and music library.  Should you pay extra to have a cordless microphone available or for us to bring additional music?  Not at all, Sound Entertainment treats every event as a special one, the only differences in our package prices is the time.  We are experienced in providing the right atmosphere for the right occasion.

  • True: Other DJ services advertise at your special occasion, we have seen logos, banners, an easel with photographs, a special table with brochures, and business cards.  I have been to weddings in where the DJ actually has the nerve to announce his name, his company and be sure to stop by and pick up a business card and you will receive 20% off your next gig.

Tacky, yes.  No matter who you choose for your entertainment needs, be sure to mention this.  This is your day, lets keep the attention completely focused on where it should be.  If anyone needs a DJ or wants a business card, they can come up and ask.  We will hand them the business card when appropriate without any sales pitch and let our performance speak for itself.

When you finally have a meeting with a DJ, make sure you interview him (or her) and ask all the questions that concern you and your fiancée before they start their sales pitch.
Here are some questions to ask.

  • How many years of experience as a DJ?
  • What type of experience is it?  (Wedding experience as opposed to clubs and parties.)
  • How many people work at the company?   (Are there back-up DJ’s?)
  • Is the DJ that you are interviewing actually going to do your wedding?  If not, insist on meeting and interviewing him.
  • Ask about their interaction with the crowd.   DJ’s range from quiet to “off the wall”.
  • Ask them what they wear to the wedding.   If they are not open to furnished" tuxedoes,"  thank them for their time and move on!
  • Ask them if they play a wide variety of music and how they plan to play something for everyone.
  • Do they play the guests' requests?   Do they keep requests in good taste and in the atmosphere of the event?
  • Last, but not least, make sure you and your fiancée feel comfortable and confident with your Disc Jockey.    Trust your instincts.   A wedding DJ should have the knowledge and ability to run a reception from start to finish but be flexible enough to adjust to your needs.  It seems like a lot of work, but keep in mind that this is your day and it was meant to be enjoyed!

Most importantly, just remember this is your special day, you have all the say and all the choices in how you want your occasion to turn.  Whomever you choose for your special occasion should be open to all requests, answer and explain all your questions and concerns, and leave you feeling 100% confident that you made the right decision.
